Movement of 18th Dec,'15

The metro witnessed yet another unique protest movement & march of College PTTs on Friday, 18th Dec, '15 when PTTs from all over the state walked in a procession from Subodh Mulluick Squire to Esplanade, stopping at all major street crossings to perform symbolic protest rituals addressed to the Education Minister of the State. Chanting of mock hymns & mimicry in protest of the Govt's paltry beggar's rise of teachers' salary by 25% a few days back, were on the lips of the marchers. Mrs Elora Biswas demanded pay scale like full time teachers for all PTTs, along with other benefits.

Can we be satisfied with so little?

When we are starving for days & ought to have been fed stomachful, we have been fed with only 25% of the meal. Can be sit back & relax half fed with a mere satisfaction that we have achieved a lot? The little achieved is not enough

Fight for sustenance

In April 2009, PTTs were awarded with a G.O which announced a service break for them. That order was withdrawn within a day due to a revolutionary protest in front of Bikash Bhavan by hundreds of PTTs. The recent 25% salary increase is also a result of our movement on 4th Dec. To disapprove of this paltry increase of salary & to raise our voices together in favour of a pay scale for all PTTs, join our protest march on 18th Dec., at 10 am from Subodh Mullick Squire To Esplanade. PTTs plan to hit the streets once again on 18th Dec

The Education minister due to our movement on 4th Dec, '15 announced a 25% salary increase for all PTTs. We are greatly agitated at this decision. In demand of a pay scale for all PTTs & in protest of this humiliating paltry salary increase, many PTTs across Bengal have implored us to hit the streets once again. Considering all their opinions, we have decided to launch yet another protest march on 18th Dec, '15 from Subodh Mullick Squire to Esplanade. Thereafter, representatives led by Mrs Biswas will proceed to Nabanna to submit our deputation. All part time teachers of the state are requested to assemble at Subodh Mullick Squire at 10 am on that day, and walk with us for their brighter prospects.

Walk with Trust, walk with Us

No matter how other people try to come to the limelight, none other than Elora Biswas have been successful in doing something fruitful for PTT s of the state. None have been able to do anything beneficiary for all PTTs, for they are incapable of doing so. If we all believe sincerely that it is by striding with Elora Biswas that we have achieved our job security (working till the age of 60), the foothold on which we still stand & fight, let's walk beside her, with her, in the days to come, to achieve that, which is yet to be achieved. It is our moral right to find out those persons , who just for some narrow personal gains, secretly, through foul means of foot licking of political masters, have intentionally jeopardized our fruitful PTTs movement. This section has consented to and are contended with a paltry 25% increased salary, a beggar's alms, for all PTTs, thus causing a great damage to the PTT movement. Following the historic revolutionary movement of PTTs on 4th Dec, '15 & staying for the entire night & day under the open sky in the streets in utter humiliation, the State Govt has, through a section of the media declared a fistful of alms (as offered to beggars) for the PTTs of the state.

Today is the second day of protest agitation of the PTTs at Y Channel, Esplanade, Kolkata. with Elora Biswas lying in the streets under the open sky, for days & nights with PTTs surrounding her. We sincerely appeal to all PTTs of West Bengal to join us in this protest agitation in large numbers, in the greatest decisive & crucial hour in the history of PTTs Association.

Teachers lie for the entire night on the streets!!!!

What a day of Shame for all, for the elite society, for people who have even little bit of ethical sense left in them, to see college teachers lying on the streets of Kolkata, being denied the permission to go to Nabanna to submit their deputation. Elora Biswas was, prior to this granted the permission for the same, but when the teachers led by Mrs Biswas after their agitation today decided to move to Nabanna there were stopped by Kolkata Police, who denied  the fact that the teachers have been given the permission for deputation. Feeling greatly humiliated & insulted Mrs Biswas decided to wait endlessly at the Y channel, Esplanade, on the open streets, under the cold December night sky, till she is allowed to present her deputation.

It is an appeal to all sections of the society, stand beside us in this fight for justice. Feel the plight, the sorrow of teachers, feel their torture deep within your hearts, see what a society we live in when teachers are made to lie under the sky in the open streets, to fulfill the sadistic pleasure of the Education Minister & the state Government.

Do we care for our honour?

Do we at all care for our honour & are we conscious about it? If we really are, then even after hearing ourselves termed as "garbage" by the Hon'ble Education Minister of the state, how can we possibly sit back & relax just like that as if nothing has happened? Can others make us conscious of our own self esteem? If we feel the burning insult deep within our hearts, then it becomes our moral duty to join in large numbers, tomorrow, 4th Dec, '15. at 10 am at Raja Subodh Mullick Squire in the protest march to Esplanade.

Blowing the conch shell

The 18 days battle of Mahabharata was fought between justice & injustice, between religion & irreligion, between honesty & treachery. Lord Krishna had signaled the start of the battle by blowing his conch shell.  We all know the pious implication of the conch shell at religious or ceremonious rites, but rarely we see it as a means of a signal of the start of a battle between justice & injustice. The conch shell of Lord Krishna was called “Panchajannyo” of Arjun ‘Dabdatto” of Bhima “Paundro” of Nakul “Ashwaghosh” & that of Sahadev  was called “Manipushpa”. Thus conch shells bear a deep significance in our culture.

The teachers in protest walk on 4^th Dec. ’15 will blow on conch shells to announce the strife between the holy & the unholy, the ethical & the unethical. They will march to Esplanade from Subodh Mullick Squire starting at 10 am, blowing on conch shells. It is an appeal to PTTs across the state: join this movement for a greater cause, to promote your future just devote 2-3 hrs for our movement, feel that you are not doing a favour to anyone by joining this march of protest but your ownself.  No one can do us a favour, nor can we expect it of them, if we don’t do it to our ownselves. Unified, mass movements have never gone in vain.

A Message for all

We are part time college lecturers; an educated & at the same time exploited section of this society. This may be witnessed by all who follow our blog regularly. They are well aware of the role we play in the higher education scenario of the society, & the painful ways we are being treated by the government. Millions of students have established themselves in life, through our guidance & training. We light others' lives but ourselves remain in utter darkness. We are starving, tortured & humiliated intellectuals & believe firmly that by following a democratic way of moving to the streets, time and again we can attain our rights. We have advanced till date, through several symbolic movements, the implications of which, wise men will surely understand. We have abstained from traditional movements using satire as a means of conveying our pain & suffering to the general people. We have several friends of the media beside us who have let the world know about our misfortunes. The Govt is not unaware of our situation. They can well read the message conveyed through our movements but have shown abject disinterestedness in solving our problems. To solve our financial scarcity (a college lecturer is paid less than a school teacher!!) the Govt has withdrawn half the amount from every college fund, but that amount is being spent on other matters and not for the teachers. Money is misused at random in a society where the teachers are starving! Ill paid teachers are looked down upon, they suffer immensely, the general election is close at hand & the state government turns a deaf ear to all cries of assistance.

These unbearable situations have compelled us to move to the streets once again. like several times before. People from all walks of life who really feel for us may come & stand beside us, in our fight against oppression & injustice. Fight with us for a noble cause, walk with us a few steps to make us realize that this society really thinks teachers to be its backbone. Underfed teachers can never present us with a better society for our future generations. We invite the general mass to join our movement on 4th Dec, '15 at 10 am, in our protest march from Raja Subodh Mullick Squire to Esplanade Y Channel, Kolkata. Be not only the general reader of our chronicles of pain & sufferings, but also our real friend.

Change your attitude & change your status

Till PTTs will continue to think that it's wise to sit back & relax at home, while others will move to the streets & fight for all of them, they will enjoy the fruits of others' labour, will give several excuses for not joining the movement & dream that the G.O will benefit them too along with the others, (so why take the trouble of joining a movement??), are uninterested about joining any active movement to attain their goals, give false verbal assurances of coming to the movement, but keep themselves busy with many 'other important matters' than this, and would rather prefer to throw their advice & suggestions & criticisms safely from a distance, PTT problems can NEVER BE SOLVED. If we are truly interested about a solution to our problems, then we should actively come down to the streets in great number, on the 4th of Dec' '15  at 10 am, in our march from Subodh Mullick Squire to Esplanade, because unity is the real strength. Active participation is always desirable to attain something in life, than suggestions & criticisms from a distance.

Protest against humiliation of PTTs: Now or Never

It's time that we raised our voices against all those PTTs who fear to defend their honour by protesting against the Education Minister's calling all PTTs as "garbage" of the education system, but continue motivating others, not to join those who move to the streets to protest against such humiliation. To ensure that PTTs in general have not lost their rational reasoning, by being motivated by a bunch of political footlickers, to feel proud of the noble profession that the PTTs are in & to protest against the silent acceptance of such humiliation by a section of teachers, PTTs across the state are requested to join in large numbers, in the protest march on 4th Dec.
